Academic Background & Training

welcome message

I’m Danielle Parkinson,  a psychologist offering a holistic and science informed approach to mental and emotional wellbeing that bridges traditional psychological frameworks with the latest emerging science. My practice integrates psychology, neuroscience, advanced therapeutic approaches, and nervous system regulation to enhance resilience, cognitive function, and emotional balance.

I work with individuals to cultivate deep self-awareness, strengthen mind-body integration, and develop the mental and emotional resources needed to thrive emotionally, physically, and psychologically.

academic background

Danielle Parkinson, MSc, is a UK-based masters level psychologist, with more than a decade of study in psychology, human behaviour, and neuroscience, complemented by postgraduate training and specialist credentials in neurodevelopmental and trauma-informed practice. She began her academic journey at Manchester Metropolitan University, completing a combined honours degree in Crime and Abuse Studies. This programme provided a foundation in forensic psychology, the study of human behaviour, and the dynamics of victimisation and abuse—physical, emotional, systemic, psychological, and sexual. Reflecting on this early work, she notes that it “highlighted the enduring psychological consequences of trauma and the ways early experiences shape mental health across the lifespan.” Building on this base, Danielle earned a Master of Science in Child and Family Psychology at the University of Chester, deepening her expertise in child development, family systems, and evidence-based approaches to assessment and intervention. This postgraduate training informs her capacity to evaluate and address trauma with clinical accuracy and sensitivity.

Neurodiversity and Advanced Clinical Training

Drawing on more than ten years of focused study of the mind and human behaviour, Danielle has undertaken extensive professional development in neurodevelopmental disorders. She holds a Certificate in Understanding ADHD and Autism (University of Derby), has completed the UK Adult ADHD Network (UKAAN) training in the assessment and diagnosis of adult ADHD, and holds the ADHD Clinical Services Provider Certification. She has completed over 400 hours of continuing professional development (CPD) to remain current with contemporary research and practice. Her work is grounded in a biopsychosocial framework, integrating biological, psychological, and social factors in both assessment and treatment.

Advocacy and Service

Danielle is Co-Vice Chair of the Cheshire East Parent Carer Forum and serves on the Cheshire East Mental Health Board, collaborating with health, education, and social-care partners to improve local provision for neurodivergent individuals and their families.

Trauma-Informed and Integrative Practice

Danielle’s clinical perspective incorporates psychological science, somatic approaches, and neuroscience. She graduated from Marisa Peer’s prestigious Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT) School with the school’s highest distinction as a Rapid Transformational Therapist and Certified Hypnotherapist. She is trained in Dr. Stephen Porges’s Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) and holds a Somatic Therapy for Complex Trauma certification. Danielle is an active member of both the Polyvagal Institute and the Trauma Research Foundation.

Her continuing education includes attendance at international lectures and workshops led by Bessel van der Kolk, Gabor Maté, Dr. Tara Swart, and Dr. Dan Siegel. This ongoing engagement supports an evidence-based, trauma-informed practice that integrates nervous-system regulation, somatic interventions, and contemporary neuroscience.

From her private practice in Cheshire, Danielle provides psychological therapy and coaching that reflect current research, ethical standards, and a commitment to person-centred, integrative care.
